希望我的分享對各位有幫助
leave除了作"離開"解以外,還有以下幾種特殊用法:
一、作"留下"、"丟下"、"落下",常表示某物落在/忘在某地。如:
You'd better leave your address and telephone number.
你最好留下你的地址和電話號碼。
Better take off your shoes and leave them outside.
最好把鞋脫掉,放在外面。
I left my key in the readingroom.
我把鑰匙忘在閱覽室了。
二、 表示"留給"、"交給",一般與介詞with或to搭配。如:
Leave it with / to me and I'll see what I can do.
把它交給我,我就知道該怎麼辦。
He has left a number of books with / to me.
他把好些書都存在我這兒/留給了我。
We didn't find him and left word (或a message) with his neighbours.
我們沒找到他,於是就托他的鄰居留了個條。(不用to,因為便條還要交給別人)
注意: leave sth with sb, 表示"暫存",以後還要取回。leave sth to sb, 表示以後不再索還。
三、 leave作使役動詞,表示"使/ 讓……保持某種狀態"。
１ 用形容詞作賓語補足語
Leave the door open when you go out.
出去時,不要關門。
His illness left him very weak.
他生病以後,身體很虛弱。
２ 用不定式作賓語補足語
Leave him to do it himself.
讓他自個兒去做。
They killed the bison, cut off the skins and left the bodies to rot.
他們把野牛殺死剝皮,屍體就任其腐爛。
What we've done leaves much to be desired.
我們的工作還有很多不足之處。
３ 用現在分詞作賓語補足語
They walked off and left me sitting there alone.
他們走開了,讓我一個人坐在那兒。
He went out, leaving his papers lying open on the desk.
他出去時,把他的文件攤在桌子上。
４ 用過去分詞作賓語補足語
Did you leave the doors and windows properly fastened?
你把門窗關好了嗎?
He left a few questions unanswered.
他還有些問題沒有作答。
５ 還可用名詞、介詞短語等作賓語補足語
His parents both died last year, leaving him an orphan.
他父母去年雙雙去世,留下他成為一個孤兒。
He left his schoolbag on the playground. 他把書包丟在操場上了。
四、 leave的過去分詞left,常用作後置定語,表示"剩下的"。如:
I've got two tickets left for tonight's film.
今晚的電影票我有多餘的兩張。
Is there any water left in the bottle?
瓶子裡還有水嗎?
注意: remaining 也可表示"剩餘的",它則只能作前置定語。請看99年上海高考試題:

C. remained 20 dollars D. remaining 20 dollars
五、 leave還可作名詞,表示"休假"、"假期"。如:
I have 3 weeks'leave.
我有三個星期休假。
My best friend, Joan is spending her leave in Beijing.
我最好的朋友瓊正在北京度假。
He asked his teacher for sick leave.
他向老師請病假。
